I must admit that I'm not sure exactly what I expected to hear from Mr. Taylor. What I got was an entirely new idea of the sounds a saxophone can make. I heard it be a voice, an orchestra instrument... and a lot of things that I'm not sure how to classify. My favorite part of the program, though, had to be the duets between David Taylor and Daniel Schnyder. Modern classical music, I think, often has to be understood to be enjoyed, but here there was no mistaking the joy with which the two men played together, and it made me smile too.
